City of Glasgow master plan includes two new parks
City of Glasgow’s new master plan includes a new aquatic facility and a new downtown park.
The new aquatic facility will be located at the American Legion Park in Glasgow. The American Legion Park already contains a pool… which will be replaced. The current pool is 42-years-old.
Also in the new master plan, is a new downtown park near the Glasgow square. The Glasgow Parks & Recreation Department recently purchased the land where the new park will sit. The downtown park will feature lots of green space, restroom facilities, shelters, and a small spray ground.
Eddie Furlong, the Parks & Recreation Director is looking forward to these new additions.
“That’s one of the things that I have been saying since I took over as Director, that we need to offer more things for the city’s citizens to upgrade their quality of life and the new aquatic center will definitely do that for them.” Says Furlong.
Construction crews should break ground on the new pool within the next six months. The downtown park should be built within the next 2-3 years.
