City of Bowling Green wins award for work with new Americans
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The City of Bowling Green is being recognized for its commitment to integrating new Americans into the community.
The city has won the Gateways for Growth Challenge.
Launched in 2015, the Gateways for Growth Challenge is an opportunity for local communities to receive tailored research, direct technical assistance and matching grants from the groups, New American Economy and Welcoming America.
Those two groups will now provide city officials with on-the-ground technical assistance to help officials draft, execute, and communicate a multi-sector integration strategy aimed at new Americans.
As of 2017, approximately 11,274 new Americans lived in, Bowling Green-Warren County according to U.S. Census Bureau data.
