City of Bowling Green passes first reading of budget
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Bowling Green City Commission voted in favor of the 2019-2020 budget at its meeting Tuesday afternoon.
The first reading was voted on unanimously.
As WNKY reported last month, the $124 million budget does not include any tax rate hikes for the 16th consecutive year, according to Bowling Green Mayor, Bruce Wilkerson.
The budget also includes more than $3 million for the new Lovers Lane fire station, $2 million for street overlay projects, $500,000 for new sidewalks and a nearly 2% salary boost for all full-time city employees.
A second and final reading of the budget will take place at the commission’s next meeting on June 18.
