City of Bowling Green opens its second splash park

The city of Bowling Green has opened its new splash park.

The $500,000 project officially opened on Wednesday morning at Lampkin Park. City and community leaders were on hand to cut the ribbon on the attraction, which features 27 spray nozzles and has been named, Limestone Springs.

"We knew by putting this project at Lampkin Park, it would be an immediate draw for the neighborhood and the citizens of Bowling Green, specifically for those on the west end of the city," said Bowling Green’s Director of Parks and Recreation, Brent Belcher.

As soon as the ribbon was cut, several children started playing in the water.

"I’m glad that we have this," said Makayla Watkins, who brought her son to the park. "It’s really nice that the kids can have something like this to come and play in, especially when it’s hot."

Limestone Springs also features several picnic tables. 

The city’s other splash park is located at Circus Square Park.
