Citation: Bowling Green man said he “snapped” is charged with rape, strangulation

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man said during a recorded telephone conversation that he “snapped” Nov. 26 and was sorry for hurting a woman he is now accused of raping, according to his arrest citation.

A woman told Bowling Green police that Cory Lanham, 24, choked and sexually assaulted her at a friend’s house Nov. 26, according to his citation. She said Lanham forced her to into intercourse and choked her several times.

The woman’s friends intervened during the incident and told police they overheard Lanham make self-incriminating statements. Another friend of Lanham’s called him while law enforcement recorded the call. During that call Lanham said he was sorry for hurting the woman and another person that police have not yet talked to, according to his citation.

Police took Lanham into custody Wednesday afternoon and he apologized for hurting the women and told police he needed help. He said he didn’t remember much about the incident but referred to it as a “sexual assault.

He is charged with first-degree rape and first-degree strangulation. A preliminary hearing in his case is scheduled for Dec. 9.
