Christmas in Kentucky kicks off Christmas season in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

South central Kentucky celebrated the first weekend in December at the Kentucky Museum on Saturday.

Christmas in Kentucky began in 2006 as a small event with only a few hundred people, and has grown into a holiday tradition for families in the area.

Children had the opportunity to get a balloon animal, make their own ornaments and even meet Santa.

In addition to all of the holiday festivities going on, the museum uses the annual event to show off the exhibits being featured.

For event organizers, seeing the joy that others get makes all of the effort worth it.

“Seeing the children enjoy it, that’s my favorite part,” says Christy Spurlock, the Education Curator at the Kentucky Museum.

Spurlock estimated around 600 people attended the event to ring in the Christmas season.
