Christmas Eve Powerball jackpot sits at $1.7 billion

(CNN) – This Christmas Eve, a $1.7 billion Powerball jackpot is up for grabs.

CNN reports the grand prize shot up to this amount for the game’s next drawing, taking place on the night of Wednesday, Dec. 24.

While no one hit the jackpot Monday night, nine tickets won $1 million prizes by matching all five white balls.

Those tickets were sold in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

Powerball said the jackpot has only been won on Christmas Eve once in the game’s history.
