Child dead after being swept away by floodwaters, governor urges caution

FRANKFORT, Ky. – A Kentucky child has died after being swept away in floodwater.
According to Gov. Andy Beshear, the death occurred Friday morning in Frankfort.
Beshear stated, “My heart breaks for this family. Please join Britainy and me in praying for them following this unimaginable loss.”
The governor is urging caution and to consider that all water could pose a risk right now.
Beshear further stated a request for an emergency declaration has been approved, providing Kentucky with federal support, along with the emergency response support the Commonwealth has already received from other states.
For the next 48 hours, the governor is asking Kentuckians to stay alert and avoid high water.
