Chicago man charged with drug trafficking
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Chicago man is behind bars in Bowling Green after Kentucky State Police said they clocked him traveling a whopping 110 miles-per-hour on Interstate 65 in Warren County.
When police stopped the driver, Derrick Freeman, 21, seemed nervous to police, and changed his story about the purpose of his travel. Police called for a K-9 team. The dog alerted his handler to the presence of narcotics in the car.
During a search, police said they found 33 grams of suspected marijuana, two digital scales, a large amount of cash and a loaded firearm, according to Freeman’s arrest citation.
Freeman is charged with speeding 26 miles-per-hour or more, reckless driving, trafficking in marijuana eight ounces to five pounds and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail. Warren District Judge Brent Potter set Freeman’s bond Thursday at $6,000 unsecured. He was released from jail Thursday.
