Charter Senior Living celebrates National Assisted Living Week

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A weeklong celebration kicked off Monday and Charter Senior Living of Bowling Green is joining tens of thousands of assisted living communities across the country for the festivities celebrating National Assisted Living Week.

Bowling Green Mayor Todd Alcott and Bowling Green City Commissioners Sue Parrigen and Melinda Hill read the proclamation to celebrate National Assisted Living Week’s theme this year “Shining Through the Years.”

The goal of the week is to honor the lives, stories and wisdom of residents and the important role of caregivers and staff in helping them continue to shine. 

“We have a forgotten population. That might be a little dramatic, but there’s some truth to that. And it’s nice to shine the light on our population now and then. They’re not seeking the spotlight, but it’s nice that we find some way to honor them, and this is a great way to do it,” said Jim Britt, senior executive director of Charter Senior Living.

“We are celebrated, but we’re celebrated most every day. You know, this is a special week, but they’re always celebrating us. They’re always good to us,” said Susie Paschal, a resident.

This celebration is a great way to learn more about this important care and the vital role it plays in the larger long term care continuum.
