BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A fraternity chapter is losing its university recognition following an investigation into hazing.

According to Western Kentucky University spokesperson Jace Lux, a disciplinary committee investigated a hazing complaint made against a chapter of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. The report was filed in the fall 2025 semester.

The disciplinary committee is imposing a five-year loss of university recognition as a result of the investigation.

Lux says the fraternity cannot operate as an official student group, host events, recruit or represent itself as a university-affiliated entity.

The full statement provided by Lux on behalf of the university includes the following:

“Following a report of hazing in the fall, the university’s disciplinary committee conducted an investigation into the campus chapter of Kappa Sigma. As a result of that investigation, the committee has imposed a five-year loss of university recognition, meaning the organization may not operate as an official student group, host events, recruit members, or represent itself as affiliated with the university during that period. The university maintains zero tolerance for hazing and will act swiftly when it determines that such conduct has occurred.”

News 40 will provide additional details on this incident as they are released.
