BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Scott Chapman has been named director of transportation for Barren County Schools.

Chapman began his career with Metcalfe County Schools, where he served as a PE teacher from 1999 to 2014, according to a release by Barren County Schools.

The district says he began as a PE teacher for Barren County High School in 2014, and in 2022, he became dean of students for the high school.

Throughout his career, the district says Chapman has served as a bus driver, working with the Barren County Schools Transportation Department to maintain his commercial driver’s license with a school bus endorsement and passenger transport endorsement.

Chapman, a Barren County High School graduate (1994), earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Western Kentucky University in 1999 and his master’s in educational leadership from Eastern Kentucky University in 2006.

“We have a wonderful group of people in our transportation department. They play a vital role in the district, safely carrying our students to and from school each day. Knowing from personal experience the rewards and challenges of driving a school bus, I deeply respect our drivers, mechanics, and bus garage staff. I look forward to serving our students, families, and staff in my new position.”

Amy Irwin, superintendent of Barren County Schools stated, “Scott Chapman is a wonderful educator and leader. As a bus driver, teacher, and dean of students, he has built a strong rapport with our school community. I know he will continue to be an asset to BC Schools as our Director of Transportation.”
