Celebrating local trailblazers: 26th Annual Black History Month Event

First full-scale Trailblazer ceremony since pandemic:

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Eleventh Street Baptist Church pews were full this past Sunday night for the community’s annual Trailblazers Black History Program.

For the 26th year, the program celebrates local trailblazers who are ‘the Malcoms, the Martins, and the Rosas of Bowling Green’.

This celebration honored upcoming African American achievers as well as those individuals who work tirelessly to provide a positive impact on the lives of our youth.

The six 2023 honorees were recognized for achievements in higher education, leadership, entrepreneurship and more.

Attendees said this year’s ceremony carried extra weight as both the first full-scale ceremony since the pandemic and the first to place so much emphasis on our young leaders.

Eleventh Street Baptist Church Associate Minister Kenny Jefferson said, “It’s a very big honor. It takes a lot of dedication and work in your community for people to recognize the work that you’re doing and get nominated for this…. Seeing these young kids, especially, was what made my heart full of joy, the young ones.”
