Celebrating 100 years of life, Village Manor throws birthday party

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s a big deal, turning 100 years old. Not many people make it, and those that do have a lot of stories to tell.

Tillie Lightfoot, born in Butler County, just turned 100 on June 30. She was born in 1924. Now residing at Village Manor in Bowling Green, family, friends and the living facility threw her a birthday party Monday for the big day.

News 40 spoke to Randy Lightfoot, Tillie’s son, who told us that he is doing all that he can to pay back his mother for the years and support she’s given him. “I love her to death,” he said in his interview with the station.

Randy Lightfoot was playing the guitar today for his mother’s celebration and singing some of her favorite gospel tunes.

News 40 also spoke to Tillie Lightfoot, a strong Christian woman who credited her faith for making it this long. She said sometimes she wonders why she’s still here, but moments like this remind her that life is all about those around you.
