Caverna teacher, basketball coach submits resignation following investigation

HORSE CAVE, Ky. – A Caverna Independent Schools teacher and basketball coach at the center of a video on social media has submitted his resignation.

Amanda Abell, superintendent of Caverna Independent Schools, provided the update Friday morning after a video circulated on social media that featured the coach.

Abell stated, “Following a thorough review and interviews with all witnesses involved, I met with the teacher this morning to terminate his employment. At the start of the meeting, the teacher submitted his resignation. A copy of his statement is attached. Both students involved in the incident have also been disciplined in accordance with school policy.”

“We sincerely regret that this incident occurred and are committed to ensuring student safety remains our highest priority.”

Within Terrence Miles’ resignation letter, he stated he has “enjoyed this past year as a special education teacher” and a high school basketball coach of Caverna Independent District.

Miles stated, “I loved the people I worked with, I loved my students, and I love the young men that performed so well for me this year both on and off the basketball court during the great season that we had.”
