Caverna students hold viglil to honor Kaci Wilson
HORSE CAVE, Ky.-Caverna High School students came together on Tuesday to remember Kaci Wilson, who taught English for two years at the school. Wilson was killed on Sunday afternoon in a three-car crash on Campbell Lane.
Students at Caverna met in front of the school just before sundown holding candles and balloons. One by one students said kind words about Wilson, many getting emotional as they spoke. The students ended the vigil by releasing white balloons the sky, at which point the crowd erupted in emotion. Some of the students hugged each other and wept.
Wilson most recently taught English as a second language at Jennings Creek Elementary School in Bowling Green, before she was killed. In 2010, Wilson graduated from Warren Central High School. She was also a Western Kentucky University alum.
According to a Bowling Green Police, Wilson was a passenger in a car driven by Noel Cruz-Lemus when the vehicle they were in lost control and collided with another car. A third car rear-ended the car that struck Wilson.
Cruz-Lemus and two other people involved in the crash were taken to a hospital. Cruz-Lemus sustained severe injuries.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash as the community mourns the sudden loss of a young teacher.
