Caverna Independent Schools mourns loss of student

HORSE CAVE, Ky. – Caverna Independent Schools has confirmed the death of a sophomore student on Friday.
According to district superintendent Amanda Abell, sophomore Elijah Heacock died the morning of Friday, Feb. 28.
Abell further stated, “This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns and questions for our entire school district, especially our students and staff.”
School officials say the local District Crisis Response Team has joined with the GRECC Crisis Response Team to help with needs of students, parents and school personnel during this time.
Abell says it has counselors available for as long as needed.
