Cave City suspending recycling program

CAVE CITY, Ky.- Cave City is suspending its curbside recycling program.

According to Public Works Director Robert Smith, the pick-up service will come to an end March 1.

The city spends about six hours every Tuesday picking up recyclables.

Smith told WNKY that the curbside pick-up service is utilized by more than a dozen residences and five businesses.

Smith said Cave City is losing money through the program.

The city is following in Warren County’s footsteps, after the county announced it would end its curbside program because China is no longer purchasing American recyclables.

Smith said Cave City residents and businesses will still have the ability to ask for recyclables to be picked by filling out a work order.
