Cave City Police Department offers advice to combat scams
CAVE CITY, Ky. – The Cave City Police Department says there are several scams going around, and they have a few tips you need to know to keep you safe.
You may remember News 40 sharing previous scams with you in the past, where scammers will pretend to be officers or say you have a warrant for your arrest.
Now, the Cave City Police Department says it’s happening again in their community, and there are a few ways you can keep yourself safe.
The department provided the following tips:
- Make sure you verify the source and know where your call is coming from.
- Never share personal information with strangers, such as your social security number or bank details.
- Beware of urgent messages or someone demanding information quickly.
- Always report suspicious activities.
- Check for grammar or spelling errors, which are common in scam messages.
- Be cautious of unsolicited offers that seem too good to be true.
- Use secure websites.
- Don’t click suspicious links.
- Regularly check your bank and credit card statements for unauthorized transactions.
- Use strong passwords.
