Cave City man charged with burglary in Hart County

CANMER, Ky. – One man is facing charges in connection with a reported burglary in Hart County.
According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police received information from dispatch on Tuesday that 37-year-old Cody Saltsman of Cave City was at a residence armed with a pistol. Authorities say dispatch was advised by the caller that Saltsman had broken in the door and entered the house.
During their response, troopers say the caller stayed on the phone and hid in the home.
Upon arrival, troopers say the suspect had left the scene and later located the suspect vehicle on Sexton Lane in Barren County.
Troopers say they made contact with Saltsman, who admitted he broke into the residence by force. Saltsman further stated he intended to beat up the caller, authorities say.
According to authorities, a firearm was located in the residence on Sexton Lane, which Saltsman had in his waistband when he entered the home but stated he never took it out.
Saltsman was arrested and transported to the Hart County Jail. He faces a charge of first-degree burglary.
