Panel at WKU discusses future of medical cannabis

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – At Western Kentucky University, a panel is hosted to discuss the future of medical cannabis in the commonwealth.

“There’s a lot of misinformation floating around out there, and we wanted to host a forum… we’re going all around the state hosting forums just so that people have the opportunity to ask the questions that they need to ask,” Kristin Wilcox from KY Moms for Medical Cannabis says.

The panel featured many different perspectives, from former representatives to Kentucky NORML officials, who all shared their thoughts, including one local dispensary owner.

“We’re really excited to be part of the community since we’ve opened up. We’ve just been welcomed by the downtown community. We love just being a part of it. It’s good to be at places like this because it’s so important to talk about the issues. There was several folks that had questions. We got a place that we could actually point them to where they could come in and find some answers,” Matthew Bratcher, Executive Director of Kentucky NORML and part owner of One Love Hemp Dispensary in Bowling Green says.

Wilcox is a Butler County native, who also happens to be on Governor Beshear’s cannabis committee. She says she’s excited to come back home and make people aware of the positive effects of cannabis.

“I am actually a senior here at Western. I’m in my last semester, so it’s very nice to be able to come here and talk to my fellow Hilltoppers and community members alike… This issue is one that’s all over the state. It’s really good to be able to talk and bring this to all communities. This is a good central area to do that,” she says.
