Camaros roll into town for Camaro Fest

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This week Camaro Fest is celebrating their 10th anniversary. Thursday morning, drivers, professional and amateurs lined up at the NCM Motorsports Park track in Bowling Green to rev up their engines up to 150 miles per hour.

Somewhere between 1,500 and 2,000 car enthusiasts show up to the event each year. It’s billed as the nation’s largest Camaro gathering.

Camaro Fest Organizer Joe Bella has been involved with the fest since it was just talk on a web forum a decade ago. He says what really shifts the event into overdrive is when people bring in unexpected cars.

“That’s the best part is you never know what’s going to show up. We’ve had cars from the 60s that have been completely redone,” Bella said. “We’ve had new cars that have had more money put into them than you could buy a Ferrari new.”

Jack Eggers has been driving Camaros for 25 years. He drove up to Bowling Green from Panama City, Fla. in his fifth Camaro he’s brought to the fest through the years. He says the event is perfect for everyone.

“You don’t have to know anything. Just come out, have a good attitude, have fun and enjoy the afternoon,” Eggers said.

One young driver hoping to make racing a life-long pursuit like Eggers is 11-year-old Ethan Bryant. This is Ethan’s second year attending the Camaro Fest with his grandma. Ethan has seen his grandfather race cars his whole life, and he hopes to be the next racecar driver in the family.

“When I grow up, I want to race in NASCAR,” Ethan said.

He has a passion for Camaros in particular, and little Jack with his big dreams plans to come to the fest year after year.

“It’s very cool, actually. Because you get to come up here and watch all the racers race, and you get to talk to them and look at all the cars here. It’s a real nice place to come to, very fun, too.”

For Camaro enthusiasts like Joe, lifelong drivers like Jack, or young beginners like Ethan, Camaro Fest 2021 makes everybody’s heart race almost as fast as the Camaros.

If you want to be a part of the Camaro Fest fun, you can head over to Beech Bend Friday. There will be drag racing, auto cross, a car show and more. For more information about the event click here.
