Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care receives Skilled Nursing Facility Heart Failure Certification

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care has earned a Skilled Nursing Facility Heart Failure Certification by the American Heart Association®.
According to Med Center Health, the certification provides framework for evaluating skills nursing facilities against the American Heart Association’s requirements for heart failure parents.
Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care is the only skilled nursing facility in the state of Kentucky to receive this certification, according to Med Center Health’s release.
“We are deeply honored to be awarded the American Heart Association Skilled Nursing Facility Heart Failure Certification,” said Jacque Woodward, administrator of Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care. “This recognition reflects the unwavering commitment of our team at Cal Turner Rehab & Specialty Care to deliver the highest standard of care to our residents. Through their expertise, dedication, and compassion, our staff has achieved a remarkable milestone becoming the first skilled nursing facility in Kentucky to receive this prestigious certification.”
Health officials say nearly one in four patients that have heart failure “return within 30 days of discharge,” with nearly half being readmitted within six months.
Med Center Health says around one quarter of readmissions may be preventable.
“Participation in this certification benefits the patient and the facility by standardizing care practices,” said Cory Woods, DNP, MHA, MSN, RN, volunteer chair of the American Heart Association’s quality certification business management committee and assistant chief clinical officer at Rockport Healthcare Services in Los Angeles, California. “When there are clear processes during every phase of care, patients have the best opportunity for positive outcomes.”
