Butler school employee accused of using Facebook to attempt to share graphic images with minor
MORGANTOWN, Ky. – Kentucky State Police Post 3 arrested Richie T. Bratcher, 51, of Morgantown on charges related to prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor.
KSP received a complaint from the Butler County School System that a boy reported Bratcher sent him unsolicited invitations to join Facebook groups that contain graphic images and are sexual in nature, according to his arrest citation. Bratcher is accused of sending the boy an invitation on three separate occasions.
Bratcher is a clerical assistant for the school system and does not have direct student contact, superintendent Robert Tuck said.
“I’ve learned that an employee of Butler County School District has been arrested by the Kentucky State Police on charges of three counts of prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor. I have taken appropriate action to remove this individual from the district at this time. Due to individual privacy rights we’re unable to comment further at this time,” Tuck said.
Bratcher was charged with three counts of prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor. He was lodged in the Butler County Jail Wednesday and released on bond.
Police obtained a search warrant to search his work and personal electronic devices. Forensic results are pending.
