Buchanon, Wilkerson help unveil 7th “Save the Depot” poster

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Historic Railpark and L&N Depot unveiled the 7th poster as part of its “Save the Depot” campaign on Tuesday morning.

With the help of local city leaders Warren County Judge Executive Mike Buchanon and Bowling Green Mayor Bruce Wilkerson, the Depot showcased the poster for the month of July.

The most recent poster was designed by local Bowling Green artist Nick Mantlo-Coots, who has previously designed artwork for the Depot.

The July poster continues the theme of World War II-era ideals, depicting a medical truck parked out front of the Depot with the phrases, “This year I’m giving double! I will save the Depot, and save a life!” and “Keep your L&N Depot open”.

Mayor Wilkerson has been pleased to see the local community rally together behind a landmark that he knows means so much to this city.

“We appreciate the community getting behind the historic railroad depot here where L&N used to have their station,” Wilkerson said. “It’s a part of Bowling Green’s history to a point that I think most people don’t realize that the beginning of our transportation hub is actually right here in this building.”

According to L&N Depot Executive Director Jamie Johnson, they’ve raised $14,000 thus far for the Depot’s endowment fund.

The next poster unveiling will take place on Aug. 1 at 10:00 a.m.
