Buc-ee’s now open in Smiths Grove

SMITHS GROVE, Ky. – It’s their second Kentucky location and a day long awaited by many Kentuckians – Buc-ee’s is finally open in Smiths Grove.

Hundreds of people flocked to the new location from various places, both those just passing through as well as those people live in the Bluegrass.

News 40 spent a few hours at Buc-ee’s to check out all the commotion, and it was one for the books. With doors opening up at 6 a.m., there was no shortage of a crowd for the day, nor could you find an open pump easily, even with 120 of them on the property.

Everyone who took out some time to talk to the station said the food was the best part of the trip to the legendary gas station. Pit master Randy Pauly also let News 40 step behind the scenes for a look at the team working vigorously.

The 53,000 square-foot building is open 24 hours a day and seven days a week, according to opening manager Tim Earley.
