Brian Alexander named the next Edmonson County School district superintendent
BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- From principal at Edmonson County High School to district superintendent, there’s going to be a new leader in the Wildcat’s den.
Brian Alexander was named the next superintendent of the Edmonson County School District in Brownsville. He’ll be stepping in for Patrick Waddell, who announced he would retire at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Alexander said he’ll have big shoes to fill.
“I’m very thankful. I appreciate the confidence the board of education and the members and the people of the community that trust me with this position,” Alexander said.
Alexander was the principal at Edmondson County High for nine years, district director of pupil personnel for five years, and then came back to his old position as high school principal before being named superintendent, coming full circle. Alexander said superintendent was something he’s wanted to be for a long time.
“It’s always been a goal of mine to be a superintendent. I’m very thankful for that. I’m thankful for all the positions I’ve been entrusted with here at the Edmonson County Schools. I’ve always tried hard to do my very best for the students and I’m going to continue to do that as superintendent,” Alexander said.
With a school year that’s been anything but normal, Alexander said he’ll be ready to help both students and families get back on their feet.
“I’m really looking forward to trying to get everybody back on track, all of our students, helping the families get back on track after this pandemic,” Alexander said.
Alexander said a superintendent comes from a super staff, and he’s ready to use what he’s learned to lead the students of the county.
“We have a super staff at the central office, and I really look forward to going back and working with them again. We’re going to do our best for the students of Edmonson County,” Alexander said.
