Brett Guthrie awards Congressional App Challenge winners
GLASGOW, Ky. – U.S Congressman Brett Guthrie presented certificates at the Congressional App Challenge for middle and high school students on Monday in Glasgow.
The challenge focused on computer science and coding to make our country more efficient.
This year’s recognized Congressional App Challenge winner was Emma Bunch, the creator of the app Cure, which assists those who have been diagnosed with cancer. In addition, Grant Harper and Madeline Prichard were placed in second. They created an app to help make school dismissals more efficient and safe.
“My aunt had Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and today she’s cancer free, thankfully, which is awesome, but I think the best outcome for me would be for these cancer patients to be able to use this app and receive just a little bit of assistance with that,” said Emma Bunch, an upcoming senior at Glasgow High School.
Students have the chance to be recognized for their newly learned skills and may be shown at the U.S Capitol in Washington D.C and on the official website on House.gov.
