BRADD selects design firm design firm for Anchor Project

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Barren River Area Development District has announced design firm Stengel Hill has been selected to help make the Anchor Project a reality.
The Anchor Project is planned to serve as an intake center operated by Lifeskills, Inc. for those facing a mental health or substance abuse crisis. Earlier this year, BRADD received a state funding allocation from the Kentucky General Assembly to pilot this regional substance abuse project.
According to a release by BRADD, Stengel Hill will work on component one of the project, which will involve the design and construction of the intake center.
Morgantown mayor Billy Phelps chaired the board’s policy and review committee, which reviewed submissions from the Oct. 30 release for request for qualifications, issued by the agency.
“Our committee was impressed by Stengel Hill’s dedication to incorporating community input, innovative design solutions, and their track record for delivering projects that stand the test of time,” Phelps said. “We believe their expertise aligns perfectly with our vision of creating a landmark that will serve as a focal point for much needed help for our region.”
The committee made their recommendation to the executive board for approval.
LifeSkills, Inc. CEO, Joe Dan Beavers stated, “This partnership represents a turning point in how we serve our community members experiencing mental health crises. Working alongside Stengel Hill and BRADD, we have an opportunity to create something truly transformative for South Central Kentucky.”
Stengel Hill, BRADD and LifeSkills will begin collaborations immediately.
BRADD has served Hart, Butler, Barren, Edmonson, Metcalfe, Monroe, Allen, Simpson, Logan and Warren counties in south-central Kentucky since 1968. For more information about the Anchor Project click here.
