Bowling Green woman turns herself in following pursuit
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green woman is now facing charges after allegedly fleeing law enforcement last week.
According to a uniform citation, Cassady Wedde, 26, of Bowling Green turned herself in to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office Monday due to a previous incident on March 19.
Deputies say Wedde stated she was the one driving and that she fled due to her fear of “getting in trouble for the accusations made against her.”
According to deputies, it was reported a woman was trespassing at a location off of Blue Level Road and had tried to run the caller over in the driveway before leaving the scene.
Deputies say a vehicle operated by Wedde accelerated when the WCSO attempted a traffic stop on March 19. The pursuit continued onto Interstate 165 northbound, where deputies say Wedde tried to hide near a tractor-trailer and by slamming on the brakes.
Deputies say after leaving I-165, they eventually disengaged the pursuit near the 7000 block of Morgantown Road.
Authorities say Wedde’s driving was “extremely reckless” and “placed numerous people in danger of serious physical injury or death.”
Wedde is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment – police officer, reckless driving, disregarding a traffic control device – traffic light, disregarding a stop sign, improper passing and speeding 26 miles per hour or greater over the speed limit.
