Bowling Green woman accused in Logan County police chase

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – A Bowling Green woman accused of leading deputies on a chase through Logan County and escaping custody at an area hospital is facing multiple felony charges.

Tuesday, Logan County emergency dispatchers received a call on Melissa Pace, 29, who the caller said was involved in a disturbance in the 800 block of North Main Street in Russellville, according to her arrest citation. The caller said Pace had active arrest warrants and was driving a car with an expired license.

Deputies responded and said Pace sped away in a chase that resulted in a marked patrol car getting damaged. Deputies used a Taser twice on Pace and took her to a local hospital where she attempted to sprint away while in handcuffs, according to her arrest citation.

She is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, operating a vehicle with an expired license, reckless driving, second-degree escape, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, first-degree criminal mischief and first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

A preliminary hearing in her case is set for Jan. 3 in Logan District Court.

In addition to the charges related to the chase, Pace was also served with warrants charging her with second-degree robbery. Theft by unlawful taking of an automobile $500 or more but less than $10,000, Theft by unlawful taking $500 or more but less than $10,000, identity theft, operating a vehicle with expired operator’s license and theft-receipt of stolen credit/debit card.
