Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society receives $90,000 grant from Petco
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Petco Foundation presented the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society with a $90,000 grant on Wednesday that will be used to extend efforts to save more animal lives in Southcentral Kentucky.
The money from the grant will support the humane society’s low cost spay/neuter program for cats and kittens, according to BGWC Humane Society Director Lorri Hare.
The Petco Foundation investment will help reduce the number of euthanized felines by allowing the humane society to provide spay/neuter surgical procedures for just $10 until the grant funds are exhausted.
This will include a rabies vaccine as well.
“Words can’t even begin to express how grateful we are for this amazing gift from Petco Foundation,” said Hare. “This is a continuation of our life-saving mission that we started together a couple of years ago.”
Hare said they began receiving funds from the grant eight weeks ago, and in that time span they’ve been able to save nearly a thousand cats.
The spay/neuter service is also available to cat owners in Edmonson and Hart County.
