Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society provides tips on keeping pets warm with cold weather approaching

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With temperatures set to drop into the 30’s and snow expected soon, it’s important to keep your furry friends safe as well.

The number one tip the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society has is to make sure to bring pets inside.

If you can’t, make sure they have a covered area to stay in with heat, water and food.

If you see a stray, contact Animal Control who can assist in finding a safe space for them.

Many may think fur protects pets from the cold, but that’s actually not true. So be on the lookout for any cold animals, because it may lead to a life saved.

“You want to be on the lookout… even that stray dog, stray cat that wanders by every once in a while, if you notice that they’re being lethargic, if they’re trembling, shaking, shivering, you want to make sure that they have access to a warm place to stay,” Adoption Center Manager Leah Lawrence says.

If you do find a stray, Animal Control is available 24/7 and can get in contact with the Humane Society to make sure every pet stays safe.
