Warren County students need your help to win national video competition
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Warren East High School business class is competing on a national level in a broadcasting competition.
The national Reach and Teach Campus Tour competition challenges students to plan, promote and produce an entertainment broadcast.
Raider Cast BG business and marketing students have stepped up to the challenge, and now people at home can help their video win the competition.
Their 15-minute broadcast includes four segments: Campus Unsolved, All Access, Girlfriend Glow Up and School Duel.
The segments features behind the scenes footage from the Tennessee Titans Nissan Stadium and plenty of Corvette content for their target audience.
Senior Kadon Owens said, “It was a really cool experience. I had a lot of fun. I got to host one of the shows… I want to win the contest!”
Junior Tanner May said, “It brought us together to work together. It took a lot of hard work and effort to get to where we’re at.”
Freshman Kenzie Upton said, “I thought it was really cool to experience this and be in the business class.”
Freshman Brookelynn Crain said, “We can use what we’ve learned – making the broadcast – in the real world and learn how to communicate with people outside of our bubble.”
The students have two weeks to earn as many views as possible on their broadcast video. The amount of views received are a deciding factor for what program will become champions.
What started out as a wild idea became the perfect networking project after a year without socializing.
WEHS Business teacher Nichole Little said, “I just wanted to do something super fun and crazy after COVID.”
Little was blown away at how her students networked with businesses and set up sponsorships; most of these kids are only high school freshmen.
“I think everybody found that they can contribute to this,” Little said. “Even the quietest kid that doesn’t hardly talk, he made [the newscast logo].”
Little hopes this production leads to a student-lead newscast next year.
