Bowling Green Salvation Army begins renovations on Navigation Center

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- With homelessness on the rise and the cost of housing moving in the same direction, the city of Bowling Green and many non-profits are coming together to help those in need.

The city is putting $2 million into the Salvation Army’s Life Navigation Center. The city is partnering with Room at the Inn, Life Skills and other non-profits, to guarantee that everyone gets an opportunity to live a better life.

We spoke with the Bowling Green Mayor, Todd Alcott, “First of all, this doesn’t exist in our community, so it’s really special to have a place to be able to start that first step, which makes us cool, is that it’s collaborative. We’ve never had multiple non-government organizations and government all working collaboratively together.”

The city has been working non-stop to get the Life Navigation Center open this year so that people who have fallen on hard times have the chance to get a fresh start.
