Bowling Green rolls out Text to 911 option city-wide
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The City of Bowling Green is excited to announce a new 911 contact tool, texting.
This tool, going live Friday, is another tool the citizens can utilize to contact emergency services if they need it.
To use it, you will simply text 911 instead of placing a call.
The goal of the new Text to 911 program is to make sure everyone in the community has access to medical, fire or police services in every situation.
The city along with local phone companies have worked on the infrastructure over the last 18 months.
City Commissioner Dana Beasley Brown said Text to 911 will be beneficial in many situations.
Right now, the feature can only be used in English, but representatives hope to expand the service to those who speak other languages as soon as possible.
