Bowling Green police warn of ongoing scam

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department is warning the public about a scam that involves impersonating law enforcement.

Police say the scammer will pretend to be Sgt. Brad Hogue and say a person has unpaid citations.

The scammer will then request $5,000 or some form of payment, police say.

The department reminds the community that warrants are not served over the phone, and they do not accept payment in any form to settle warrants.

Police encourage those who wish to verify the caller’s identity to reach out to its dispatch center.
