Bowling Green Police take part in annual “Heroes & Helpers” event

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The Bowling Green Police Department teamed up with Target and Alvaton Elementary School on Tuesday night for the annual ‘Heroes & Helpers’ event, continuing a tradition of supporting local families during the holiday season.

Officers, dispatchers and cadets joined teachers and students from Alvaton Elementary to shop for gifts and share holiday cheer. BGPD had shopping carts filled with toys and essentials, and police cruisers lined up outside the store.

This year’s event carried special meaning for the department, marking their return to Master Police Officer Dale Barbiea’s favorite community tradition. BGPD says his kindness and love for service continue to inspire their involvement.

The department thanked Target for its ongoing investment in local families, and expressed appreciation for Alvaton Elementary School’s partnership and advocacy for students.

BGPD called the night “another unforgettable evening of service, partnership and holiday cheer.”
