Bowling Green police receive grant for new dispatch equipment
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Bowling Green Police Department is updating its computer aid dispatch (CAD) program thanks to a hefty grant.
The police department has obtained a $450,000 grant from the Kentucky 9-1-1 Services Board.
The money will be used to purchase a top of the line Motorola CAD system, according to Bowling Green Police Department Dispatch Manager Amelia Bowen.
The program, which uses brand new technology, will allow dispatchers the opportunity to streamline daily functions, such as recording 9-1-1 calls and tracking first responders.
The software also features state of the art mapping.
The department hasn’t upgraded its equipment in about five years, according to Bowen.
Bowen says it will likely take about a year before the new technology is operational.
