Bowling Green Police Department purchases ATV for use in downtown events & other purposes
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department unveiled their new ATV at Downtown Light Up Friday night.
This new ATV will help in providing easier access during downtown events as well as make it easier for response to service calls.
Sergeant Brad Hogue says for now, they’ll be using the cart to simply transport equipment to and from places like the Christmas Parade in Bowling Green.
But in the future, they want to use it for plenty of other things that can help the community.
“People might not realize this, but we do a lot of a field searches. We go out off road quite a bit… might be looking for missing people, people that might be hurt, wanted people, evidence, a wide variety of things. In the past, that would be officers on foot having to go out and find these things and go do the searches. Now, we will be able to drive to these locations and then transport things to and from it to get the people help, or to provide aid to people that need it,” Hogue says.
Officers were out and about with the cart at Downtown Light Up, handing out badges to kids that were around Fountain Square.
Hogue says this new ATV will make it easier to travel through areas where streets may be closed for events like this.
