Bowling Green Police Department holds Red Cross blood drive at headquarters

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This Christmas season many of you will hit the mall and stores looking for the perfect gift for a loved one.

On Monday, the Bowling Green Police Department offered the opportunity to give the best gift of all – life.

At the Bowling Green Police Department headquarters, the American Red Cross set up a station for good Samaritans to come and donate blood. This is the sixth year the BGPD and the Red Cross have come together and collected some much needed blood.

As always, the community showed up for those they won’t know when they need help the most.

“Every single time. It’s the same way when it comes time. When it comes to the last few days, the appointments start filling up. But then you come in the day of, and you look around, and you see all of the beds are full and there are chairs here and people are waiting in them. It’s like, yes, this is great. And so I know that every time that you give blood, somebody is going to be helped,” BGPD public information officer Ronnie Ward said.

Ward says his favorite part of giving blood is being able to track your donation on the app to see where it goes and that it really gives you the sense that you’re making a difference.
