Bowling Green Parks and Rec prepares the Russell Sims Aquatic Center for swim season

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Believe it or not we are just a few short months away from the Russell Sims Aquatic Center opening back up to the public, but since its closure in September, Bowling Green Parks and Rec staff have been hard at work preparing for the new season.

Work has been going on at one of the community’s favorite gathering places. From repainting the famous red and blue water slides, and re-vamping customer service to replacing the famed yellow bridge crossing the pool, there’s lots to see when the park opens back up.

“More than anything, we want them to have fun. And so that starts with, you know, as soon as we open those gates, we try to put a smile on people’s faces. And that’s ultimately, you know, that’s our goal. And so that makes the expenses worth it. You know, we are good stewards of the taxpayer dollars that we have come into this facility in the ways that we use them. And we really try again during that 12 month operation to put those taxpayer dollars back into this facility and make it an enjoyable place for people to be” Bowling Green Parks and Rec Recreation Division Manager Cameron Levis

Early bird sales are going on right now until May 1st. Bowling Green Parks and Rec is looking forward to seeing all of the smiling faces this swim season.
