BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green mother has been arrested as a result of a child abuse investigation.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded Dec. 10 for a follow-up on a report of possible child abuse.

Police say the report stated a 6-year-old stated he was being choked by his mother. Authorities say the Department for Community Based Services had responded and gathered photographs of the child’s injuries.

Authorities say bruising on the child’s neck was consistent with the child’s statements.

The victim’s mother, identified as 27-year-old Destiny Thomas of Bowling Green, was arrested after a review of two accounts about how the child had sustained injuries.

Police say there were multiple inconsistencies in Thomas’ statements.

Thomas was arrested and faces charges of second-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).

She remains at the Warren County Regional Jail.
