Bowling Green man indicted for illegal possession of firearm

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man has been indicted on charges related to illegally possessing a firearm.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Western District of Kentucky, Christopher B. Cornell, 40, was indicted Feb. 14 for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Officials say Cornell had a pistol and ammunition despite previous convictions for felony offenses.

These include a conviction for third-degree burglary in 2019 and a conviction for third-degree assault and third-degree burglary in 2015, according to officials.

Cornell appeared for arraignment Wednesday. He remains in federal custody pending trial.

If convicted, Cornell faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
