Bowling Green man charged with theft of vehicle, resisting arrest
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges, including theft of a vehicle.
According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department was dispatched Thursday for a stolen vehicle at 2144 Russellville Road.
Police say upon arrival, they spoke to the owner of the business and were notified that on that same day that someone had stolen a black Dodge Challenger from the lot.
Authorities say footage shows a suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Cody Green of Bowling Green, getting out of a separate vehicle and leaving in the Challenger.
Police say they searched the car left behind to determine the owner. Inside, they say they found a wallet with several cards identifying Green.
While on scene, authorities say officers located the Challenger traveling north toward U.S. 31-W Bypass, resulting in a traffic stop.
Police say they identified the driver as Green.
During this time, police say Green did not follow nearly 20 commands to exit the vehicle, leading officers to “pull” Green out of the vehicle.
Green continued to resist arrest after this, authorities say.
While speaking to Green, police say he stated he “did not steal the vehicle and that an employee of Car Nation traded him the Challenger for the Volkswagen Passat.”
Green was transported to the Warren County Detention Center. He faces charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition auto between $1,000 and $10,000, resisting arrest, no registration plates and failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance/security, first offense. Green was additionally served with four warrants, according to police.
