Bowling Green man charged with strangulation, unlawful imprisonment

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges, including strangulation and unlawful imprisonment.
According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded at 4 a.m. Monday to the 2700 block of North Mill Avenue for a disturbance.
The citation states dispatch stated they could hear a male state he was going to “break the door down” and could hear him beating on the door.
Upon arrival, police say they tried to make contact and had confirmation that the male was still trying to break down the door.
Based on the information gathered, police say they were given permission by authorities to enter the residence.
The male subject, later identified as 21-year-old Christian Chandler of Bowling Green, eventually opened the door for law enforcement, authorities say.
Chandler was immediately placed into custody. Police say Chandler had the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him.
Police say upon speaking with a female that had been in the home, they were told a verbal argument had taken place.
Authorities say the victim stated Chandler then pushed her down and that she felt she could not leave. Police say the victim stated Chandler strangled her, which kept her from being able to breathe.
Police say the victim further stated when she tried to stand up, Chandler struck her in the back of the head.
Chandler remains at the Warren County Regional Jail. He is charged with first-degree strangulation (domestic violence related), first-degree unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree assault (domestic violence, minor injury).
