BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is charged after an alleged robbery.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded Sunday to Cub Express Auto Wash at 453 Campbell Lane regarding a burglary alarm.

Authorities say upon arrival, Western Kentucky University police were on scene nearby with 55-year-old Corey Smith.

Police say Smith had been identified as a suspect in a robbery that occurred on Nov. 9 at BG Towers.

Authorities say on that date, a victim stated they saw Smith in the lobby when Smith yelled “Everybody in here better give me their money, or I’m going to start shooting.”

After the victim went outside, police say the victim stated Smith followed before yelling the same threat outside.

Upon speaking with Smith, authorities say he initially stated he was not at the towers on Nov. 9 before later admitting he had been there.

Smith additionally confirmed it was him in surveillance images provided, according to the citation.

However, the citation states Smith said he “never had any weapons” and “did not make any threats toward anyone.”

Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Warren County Regional Jail.

He is charged with first-degree robbery.
