Bowling Green man charged with fleeing police in vehicle

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is behind bars following a vehicle pursuit on Friday.

According to the Bowling Green Police Department, officers were attempting to find 38-year-old Alen Kuvac of Bowling Green Friday afternoon on a warrant for his arrest.

After seeing Kuvac driving a truck near Plano Road, police say they attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

However, officers say Kuvac drove into oncoming traffic.

Authorities say Kuvac almost collided with another vehicle during this time. Officers say they began pursuing Kuvac due to him causing danger to bystanders.

Kuvac then ran a red light and continued fleeing into Simpson County, where the Kentucky State Police continued the pursuit, the citation states.

Authorities say speeds reached around 101 miles per hour on Interstate 65 south toward Tennessee.

Kuvac was apprehended and placed under arrest.

Kuvac remains at the Warren County Detention Center on charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), speeding 26 miles per hour or greater over the speed limit, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), reckless driving, disregarding a traffic control device – traffic light, no registration plates and failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, first offense.
