BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges after an incident off of Campbell Lane on Saturday night.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department was at 730 Campbell Lane for an unrelated call when police say they were flagged down regarding an aggressive subject in the parking lot.

Police say an employee of a nearby business advised the male subject had been trying to fight staff and was intoxicated.

Police say the subject yelled loudly at officers and kept reaching into his backpack despite commands to keep his hands free.

The subject, later identified as Kenneth Payne, 19, of Bowling Green, ran from police and climbed over a fence, authorities say.

Police say other responding officers located Payne near the woods behind Bowling Green Junior High School.

After several commands, police say Payne exited the woods without the backpack and was taken into custody.

Police say Payne had bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage. Inside the backpack, police say they located a bag of marijuana, a scale and a large amount of cash.

Payne was transported to the Warren County Detention Center.

He is charged with tampering with physical evidence, trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 ounces), first offense, third-degree fleeing or evading police, drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, alcohol intoxication in a public place, first and second offense, and second-degree disorderly conduct.
