Bowling Green man charged with DUI, reckless driving in Glasgow

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing charges after allegedly driving over 100 miles per hour while intoxicated.
According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police observed a vehicle going 99 mph on the Cumberland Parkway in Glasgow on Monday afternoon.
Troopers say the vehicle began crossing over the center line multiple times, almost striking another vehicle.
The driver then sped up to 112 mph in a 70 mph zone, troopers say. The citation states the trooper activated the cruiser’s emergency lights, and when the vehicle did not pull over, the cruiser’s siren was activated.
Authorities say the vehicle then began to slow down and reached a stop.
Upon contact, troopers say the driver smelled of alcoholic beverages.
The driver, identified as 47-year-old Kham Khai of Bowling Green, stated he was speeding because he had a flat tire, according to the citation.
Authorities say the right back tire had an audible leak.
Khai was requested to exit the vehicle. A preliminary breath test measured at .131, the citation states.
Khai was arrested on multiple charges, including speeding 26 miles per hour or greater over the speed limit, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense, reckless driving, second-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer and failure to or improper signal.
He remains at the Barren County Detention Center.
